The EU's Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) has issued a stark warning to crypto exchanges, custodial wallet providers, and other VIRTUAL asset service platforms. Stricter compliance requirements are now in effect, targeting money laundering and terrorist financing risks.

Bruna Szego, AMLA's chair, emphasized the necessity of protecting the bloc from financial crimes linked to digital assets. The Frankfurt-based regulator will scrutinize beneficial ownership structures of crypto businesses, demanding transparency around shareholders and ultimate controllers.

New rules ban anonymous wallets and privacy-focused cryptocurrencies outright. By July 2027, all crypto firms must provide government agencies with direct access to account data—a MOVE that fundamentally alters privacy paradigms in digital asset transactions.
